Our predictions for Saudi Arabia in the 2022 World Cup

Saudi Arabia 2022 World Cup Featured

Saudi Arabia will not have an easy time in this World Cup. It should, logically, be very difficult for this team to make it out of the group stage. They will have to put up a fight against Argentina, Poland and Mexico, all three of whom seem far superior. As such, the Falcons (the nickname for Saudi’s national team) should, barring a huge surprise, leave the competition in the group stage.

Saudi Arabia is a relatively new addition to World Cup history but seems to have found its rhythm. Since its first appearance in the 1994 World Cup, Saudi has competed in 5 of the following 7 competitions (including 2022 in those statistics), qualifying for the round of 16 in that same year, and was only knocked out in the end by Sweden (1-3).

The World Cup qualification campaign:

Saudi Arabia finished top of its group in the second round and was unbeaten (6 wins and 2 draws in 8 matches), easily dominating Uzbekistan, Palestine, Singapore and Yemen. In the third round, the Middle-eastern nation also finished in the first place, one point ahead of Japan, and eight points ahead of Australia. Oman, China and Vietnam trailed behind.
