Lamine Yamal stands on the cusp of becoming the youngest player to contribute to ten goals in a single Champions League season. He needs just one more goal or assist in the upcoming match against Atletico Madrid. So far, he has tallied five goals and four assists across eight matches.

The current record-holder is Erling Haaland, who achieved this feat during the 2019/20 season playing for Manchester City. At the time, Haaland was 19 years and 212 days old, emphasising the magnitude of the milestone ahead for Barcelona’s rising star. Yamal, showing remarkable consistency for his age, has the opportunity to shatter Haaland’s record at just 18 years and 269 days.

Yamal’s standout performances include his vital contributions in Barcelona’s 6-1 victory over Olympiacos and the thrilling 3-3 draw against Club Brugge. He also played a significant role in the team’s triumphs over Eintracht Frankfurt, as well as their matches against Copenhagen and Newcastle.

Interestingly, in the games where Yamal did not contribute to a goal, Barcelona suffered defeats. This includes losses to Chelsea and PSG, underscoring just how indispensable he has become for the squad.

Now, Barcelona faces a pivotal moment in their season with the clash against Atletico Madrid. For Yamal, it’s more than a fight for a spot in the semifinals: it’s the perfect chance to etch his name into the competition’s history books.
