Real Madrid secured a victory against Getafe on Sunday evening, thanks to a decisive goal by Kylian Mbappé. Following the encounter, Los Blancos’ manager shared his thoughts, emphasising that the team is not overly reliant on the French international’s performance.

“Vinicius Junior had a significant impact on the match. His contributions helped us maintain control during key moments. This highlights the importance of every player in the squad. Arda Güler also played an important role, delivering a fantastic assist for Kylian Mbappé’s goal,” stated Xabi Alonso, as quoted by Marca.

“Playing away against Getafe is always challenging. In such games, you need resilience and determination. It’s also crucial to understand that the match might not be the most thrilling in terms of spectacle,” the Real Madrid coach continued.

“We stayed focused and did what was necessary. It was a game that required us to roll up our sleeves and put in hard work,” highlighted Alonso.

“When a team is playing with a numerical advantage, situations like the one at the end shouldn’t occur. We lost possession and were out of position despite having more players on the pitch. That said, we gained three valuable points, and we’ll review everything else in detail,” added the manager of the La Liga powerhouse.

There have been speculations that Real Madrid is becoming increasingly dependent on Mbappé’s contributions. Alonso also addressed this topic when discussing the former Paris Saint-Germain star.

“I wouldn’t say we are dependent on Mbappé. I would say we are very pleased with him. He has a decisive impact on the game with his goals and commitment. His goals mean so much more, and all of it is crucial,” said the Real Madrid coach.

The Madrid team is currently sitting at the top of the Spanish league standings, boasting a record of 24 points. They hold a two-point lead over Barcelona, which occupies second place.
