Vinicius Junior, once again, finds himself at the center of criticism. According to “DAZN,” the Brazilian forward from Real Madrid struggled to keep his composure during El Clásico.
When Xabi Alonso decided to substitute him with Rodrygo in the 72nd minute of the clash against FC Barcelona, Vinicius reportedly exclaimed, “I’m leaving the team!”, storming off toward the bench.
At the time of the substitution, Vinicius appeared visibly stunned by his coach’s decision, repeatedly asking, “Me?”, and addressing Alonso with “Mister, Mister.” When it became clear he was to leave the pitch, his anger erupted.
He allegedly directed a harsh comment at Alonso in his native Portuguese, saying “Vai tomar no culo!”. Though this phrase roughly translates to something along the lines of “Get lost” or “Leave me alone”, it is considered far more offensive in direct Portuguese usage.
According to “DAZN,” the forward stormed down the tunnel, muttering curses under his breath in frustration. Xabi Alonso tried to defuse the tense situation, urging, “Come on, Vini, calm down!” However, the Brazilian winger’s emotions were running high and seemed uncontrollable.
As reported, Vinicius continued to assert, “I’m leaving the team; it’s better if I just leave.” He then disappeared into the tunnel. Moments later, he returned to the bench where fellow teammate Lunin tried to help him collect himself.
This incident has added to the ongoing tension between the player and Real Madrid’s coaching staff. Meanwhile, El Clásico concluded with a thrilling 2-1 victory for Los Blancos.
