Playing style: A physical, all-round number nine

Standing 1.92m, Sadiq is far more than a target man, blending strength with mobility and technique.

  • 📏 Aerial threat: A constant danger from crosses and set pieces thanks to his height.
  • 🧱 Hold-up play: Shields the ball well and brings midfield runners into the game.
  • 🎯 Finishing: A proven goalscorer at Segunda and top-flight level.
  • 🅰️ Link play: Deceptively skilful, contributing assists as well as goals.
  • 💪 Resilience: Fought back from a serious knee injury to return to top-level football.

Career: From Roma’s loan army to Spanish success

Sadiq’s career took him from Italy through a long series of loans and a spell in Serbia before Spain, where he finally established himself as a top-flight striker.

Italy, loans and a Partizan revival

Signed by Roma as a teenager, Sadiq endured a nomadic spell with loans to Bologna, Torino, NAC Breda, Rangers and Perugia. A move to Partizan Belgrade finally gave him regular football, and he responded with a flurry of goals in Serbia.

That form earned a transfer to UD Almería in Spain. He was the driving force behind Almería’s 2021-22 Segunda División title, scoring 18 league goals to fire the club to promotion to La Liga.

Real Sociedad, injury and a Valencia move

Sadiq joined Real Sociedad in 2022 for a club-record-type fee, but a serious knee injury early in his spell cost him much of a season and disrupted his momentum in the Basque Country.

In 2025 he moved to Valencia, initially on loan and then permanently, where he has rediscovered his scoring touch. He competes for minutes with Nigeria’s elite forwards such as Victor Osimhen, offering a different physical profile up front.

International tournaments: Olympic bronze and AFCON adventures

Sadiq first shone for Nigeria’s under-23s, winning bronze at the 2016 Rio Olympics and scoring in the tournament. He graduated to the senior side and made his major-tournament bow at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

He scored on that AFCON debut during the group stage and returned to the squad for the 2023 edition, where Nigeria reached the final. Injuries have periodically interrupted his international rhythm, but his physical presence keeps him in the frame.

Clubs journey: Italy, Serbia and Spain

Sadiq’s early career was a patchwork of loans, but Spain has been the making of him. Almería turned him into a genuine goalscorer, and he has stayed in La Liga ever since.

Now leading Valencia’s attack, the Kaduna-born striker has shown the resilience to overcome injury and remain a top-flight forward and Super Eagles option in his late twenties.
