Real Madrid is set to participate in the FIFA Club World Cup in just over two weeks. One major point of speculation had been whether Trent Alexander-Arnold would feature in the tournament.
The England international has agreed to personal terms with Los Blancos, but an early transfer has not been sanctioned by Liverpool. However, reports suggest Florentino Perez has managed to sway the Merseyside club by offering a modest compensation package.
According to El Chiringuito TV, Real Madrid will pay Liverpool €5 million. As a result, Alexander-Arnold is set to join his new team imminently, making him eligible to debut for Los Blancos during the Club World Cup.
The Club World Cup will kick off on June 15 and conclude on July 13. Held in the United States, the competition will feature 32 teams from six different confederations. Real Madrid has been drawn into Group H, where they will face Al-Hilal, Pachuca, and Red Bull Salzburg.
It is worth noting that Alexander-Arnold might not be the only debutant for Real Madrid at this tournament. Dean Huijsen could also appear in the iconic white jersey for the first time. Additionally, Xabi Alonso will debut as the team’s head coach, having recently replaced Carlo Ancelotti in the managerial role.
Before now, Alexander-Arnold has spent his entire professional career at Liverpool. For the Anfield-based side, he has made 354 appearances, scoring 23 goals and providing 92 assists along the way.
He boasts two Premier League victories and a Champions League triumph to his name.
