Thiago Alcantara has found his way back to Barcelona, but this time in a completely different capacity. The former midfielder, having retired from professional football a few months ago, has now joined Hansi Flick’s coaching staff for the second time. The German coach has long been advocating for Thiago’s formal inclusion in the crew.

Thiago’s responsibilities will extend beyond tactical consultations. First and foremost, he will serve as a mentor for players. With his vast experience at Bayern Munich, Liverpool, and a strong connection to Barcelona’s philosophy, he is expected to bridge gaps in communication and maintain harmony within a locker room brimming with star talent.

His primary focus lies on Lamine Yamal. At just 18, the young winger has already made a significant impact at the club. However, with immense pressure and the high demands of professional football at such a young age, the challenges can be daunting. Having walked a similar path as a La Masia prodigy, Thiago is well-positioned to guide the rising star, helping him navigate not only the successes but also the inevitable challenges.

Thiago’s influence is by no means limited to Yamal. He is also expected to mentor other emerging talents like Pau Cubarsi, Marc Bernal, and Roony Bardghji. Flick envisions Thiago as more than just a coach; he sees him becoming a pivotal figure in the development of these younger players.

This addition to the coaching staff is seen as a strategic move by Barcelona. By bringing in someone who deeply understands the club’s ethos, they strengthen Flick’s team while positioning Thiago to play a transformative role in grooming the next generation of footballers.
