Week 8 of Thai League 1 2024/25 will begin tomorrow and play out over the weekend, with 14 teams in action. For a preview of the upcoming matchups and predictions on what results we believe are most likely, read the article below.
Bangkok United Vs Ratchaburi FC (September 27th)
Bangkok United are fresh off a huge win against Port FC last week which helped them climb the standings in 3rd place with 14 points. The team has a chance to keep the momentum going this week against Ratchaburi FC, who have been stuck in the middle of the middle of the table all season. It should be noted however that Ratchaburi had a dominant 4-0 win against Nakhon Ratchasima which could build their confidence heading into this week.
The head-to-head between these two teams is in favor of Bangkok United who have won 3 of their last 4 matches together. Ratchaburi did have some success against Bangkok United this year though, beating them 1-0 in early March.
This matchup will likely be a close one that comes down to a single goal. After a big win last week, expect Bangkok United to come out ahead.
Prachuap Vs Port FC (September 28th)
After a terrific start to the season, Port FC had their first loss of the season last week against Bangkok United, 2-1. While they still hold the second place in the standings, they are now 5 points behind leader Buriram United. Prachuap also had a disappointing Week 7, as they were absolutely destroyed by Buriram 6-0 to fall to 6th place.
Port has dominated the head-to-head comparison between these two teams, winning four out of their last 6 games, while the other two were 1-1 draws. Port FC will likely be keen to avenge their loss last week and should take this matchup by multiple goals.
Nakhon Ratchasima Vs Nong Bua Pitchaya (September 28th)
Nakhon Ratchasima will take on Nong Bua Pitchaya on Saturday at the 80th Birthday Stadium in a mid-table clash. Both teams will be desperate for a win as they try to break into the top 5 position in the leaderboard.
Nong Bua Pitchaya come off a 3-2 win last week against Uthai Thani which helped them take 9th place. They have won two of their last 5 matches and drawn the other three. This is a significant improvement for the team after losing their first two games.
Nakhon Ratchasima would like to put Week 7 behind them, after taking a big loss to Ratchaburi FC by 4 goals. The team had secured 4 draws in a row prior to the loss last week and currently sit in the 7th spot.
Nakhon Ratchasima have had the better head-to-head as of late, winning three of the last four matches. That includes a big 3-0 win earlier this year which could still be on the minds of the Nong Bua Pitchaya players.
Even though they are currently not in the best of form, we expect Nakhon Ratchasima to be able to pull through with a win this week.
Uthai Thani FC Vs Chiangrai United (September 29th)
Uthai Thanis suffered a close loss to Nong Bua Pitchaya last week but will be pleased with their play in the past few weeks. Prior to the loss, they had won two games in a row against Rayong and Sukhothai.
Chiangrai United have not been able to get anything going this season with only four points in 7 matches. The team’s only win came against Khon Kaen United in the season opener.
There isn’t too much history between these two teams but the two matches played between them have ended in a 1-1 draw and 3-0 win by Uthai Thani. Given that Chiangrai hasn’t been able to score many goals this season, there is a good chance this match could be a shutout in favor of Uthai Thani. Expect a low scoring game which should go in favor of Uthai Thani either 2-0 or 1-0.
