The 14th matchday of the Thai League 2024/25 sees a number of key matchups which have the potential to make a big difference in this season’s standings.
Bangkok United extended their lead at the top of the Thai League 1 table last week, after defeating Khon Kaen United 3-2 on the road. Defending champions Buriram United fell further behind, as their struggles continued with a 1-1 draw against Rayong. After starting the season red hot, Buriram has only managed to win 2 of their last 5 matches, with three ending in ties.
BG Pathum United and Prachuap both secured victories last week to draw level with Port FC for third place on 22 points. With each of these teams in action this week, we could see one break away from the pack and push themselves among the leaders.

Buriram United Vs Sukhothai (November 22)
Buriram United will be desperate to get back to their winning ways as they face off against 6th palace Sukhothai at Chang Arena on Matchday 14. Buriram are currently 6 points behind league leaders Bangkok United but have played 3 less games. Despite not having posted a single loss this season, Buriram have lost their winning ways as of late, posting 3 draws in their last 5 matches.
Sukhothai have been a mixed bag in their last 5 matches, with three wins, a draw and a loss. The team will attempt to use the momentum from their 5-2 win against Nongbua Pitchaya last week to help them against one of the top teams in the tournament.
Based on the head-to-head history between these teams, Buriram will go into the clash as big favourites. They have won all of the last five meetings between them, the latest a 4-0 victory in August of this year.
We expect Buriram to come out looking to score goals and get off to an early lead. They should put away Sukhothai easily if they can push the pace and get their leading strikers into the mix.
Bangkok United Vs Muangthong United (November 23)
As the league’s top team, Bangkok United will be keen to keep their lead with a win over Muangthong United. As the inform team of the tournament, Bangkok United have won all of their last 5 games and have only looked to be gaining in confidence as the season wears on.
Muangthong United have been in the middle of the pack for most of the season but will look to build on a 3-1 win over Nakhon Pathom United last week. Defense has been the team’s strong suit, managing to limit their opponent’s scoring in a majority of their matches.
Muangthong United will have their hands full but will look back to their 4-1 win over Bangkok last year as inspiration for another similar performance. The last encounter between the two teams ended with Bangkok United winning by the score of 2-1 on the road.
As you’d expect, Bangkok United are the heavy favourites to extend their winning streak in Matchday 14. They will however need to play some solid football against a Muangthong United team that has proven they can hang with the better teams. We predict a low scoring game which Bangkok United just edges out by a goal.
Port FC Vs Uthai Thani (November 23)
Port FC didn’t play last week but will still be disappointed after a stinging 2-0 loss to Bangkok United in Matchday 12. Uthai Thani lost a hard fought game to BG Pathum United in the previous week which dropped them to 7th place in the standings. Both teams desperately need a win to put them back in winning ways.
Our prediction is that Port FC will come out winners in what could end up being a blowout. It should be noted however that the latest match between these teams was a 3-3 draw.
