Matchday 12 of the Thai League 1 2024/25 season is set to get underway on November 2nd with another exciting week of action.
After a surprise draw against the Lamphun Warriors last week, Buriram United fell to second place in the Thai League 1 standings for the first time this season. They were overtaken by Bangkok United who currently sit on 24 points, one point ahead of Buriram. Bangkok United have however played two extra games than their rivals.
Port FC had the chance to join Bangkok United on 24 points but could only manage a draw against Muangthong United, leaving them in 3rd place.
Heading into this week, there is everything to play for at the top of the standings, so let’s take a look at the key matchups.
Bangkok United Vs Port FC (November 2)
In the biggest match of the week, first palace Bangkok United will take on this place Port FC in what will likely determine the top of Thai League 1 table.
Bangkok United got off to a slow start this season but have won 4 of their last 5 matches, along with a draw. Port FC on the other hand, started strong but have run into issues as of late, only winning 2 of their last 5, including 2 draws and a loss. Much of their issues have come due to a fall off in the offense which has failed to produce the same way it did during the start of the season.
Historically, Bangkok United and Port FC have been very evenly matched, with 4 of their last 6 matchups ending in draws. This includes their last match which ended in a 2-2 draw earlier this year.
Bangkok United are expected to have a slight advantage as they are playing at home. They have also been playing their best football lately while Port FC have begun to struggle. We predict Bangkok United will get the win this week in a hard fought match.
Ratchaburi F.C. Vs Sukhothai (November 2)
The Ratchaburi vs Sukhothai matchup will feature two of the best scorers in the league in Baggio Rakotonomenjanahary and Clément Depres. Both players have 5 goals this season, which puts them in joint 2nd place behind Buriram United’s Guilherme Bissoli who has 8.
Sukhothai is currently in 6th place while Ratchaburi follows closely behind in 7th. The head-to-head between the two teams in recent years has also been very close, with both teams finding 2 wins in their past 5 meetings.
Expect this match to follow suit and be a close one which ends in a draw or a close win for Sukhothai, who has been playing better as of late.
Lamphun Warriors Vs BG Pathum United (November 4)
In the final match of the week, the Lamphun Warriors will host BG Pathum at Chiang Mai Stadium in what could be a pivotal match in both team’s seasons.
Lamphun Warriors are hot off a 1-1 draw against Buriram United where they played some of their best football so far this year. BG Pathum also were in good form last week, beating Nakhon Pathom United 3-1 for their fifth win to get to 18 points. They are now only 6 points behind the leaders and could cut into that deficit with a win in Matchday 12.
The last 5 matches between these two clubs have been quite evenly split, with BG Pathum winning 3 to the 2 of the Lamphun Warriors. Their latest meeting was a 2-0 win for Lamphun in early March of this year. Prior to that, the teams met late last year where BG Pathum got the upperhand with a 3-0 victory at home.
Based on current form both teams are relatively evenly matched. Lamphun proved they can hang with the best teams in the league last week, with their draw against the mighty Buriram United team. Even so, we expect BG Pathum to come out ahead in this matchup, likely by a small margin of a goal or two.
