Buriram United continue to dominate the Thai League 2024/25 season, with a record of 7 wins and 1 loss in their eight matches. Despite playing two less games than second place, they still remain at the top of the leaderboard with 22 points. Bangkok United and Port FC share second place with 21 points each, winning 6 matches, while drawing three and losing one.
The middle of the standings is very congested, as three teams jostle for position on 15 points and another four on 13. Nakhon Pathom United and Khon Kaen United sit at the bottom of the table and are at risk of relegation if they can’t pick up some wins soon.
This week will be crucial for teams in the middle of the pack as they look to chase down the top three. Let’s take a look at some of the key matchups and what we predict could take place.
Buriram United Vs Lamphun Warrior (October 26)
Buriram United kept their unbeaten streak going last week with yet another win against Uthai Thani at the Chang Stadium. They have managed to get a W in all their matches this season except for a scoreless draw against second place, Port FC. Brazilian Guilherme Bissoli has been on fire this season for Buriram with 7 goals to lead the league in scoring.
The Lamphun Warrior suffered a 1-0 loss to Khon Kaen United last week which set them back in the standings. They are currently in 11 position with 3 wins, 2 draws and 5 losses.
This is expected to be a very difficult matchup for Lamphun who have lost their last 5 meetings to Buriram. Their last match in April of this year was relatively close however, with Buriram just edging out Lamphun 2-1.
As the in-form team of the tournament, Buriram should make quick work of the Lamphun Warriors this week. Expect a high-scoring game where Buriram United wins by multiple scores.
Port F.C. Vs Muangthong United (October 27)
Port FC have won their last two matches after coming away with 2 draws and a loss in their three matches prior. They are going up against a Muangthong United team which has been consistent in their past 5 contests, staying undefeated with 2 wins and 3 draws. They are currently in 7th position in the league on 13 points but have played 2 less matches than most other teams.
Teerasak Poeiphimai has been the main weapon for Port FC this season, managing 5 goals in 10 games. He has however cooled off as of late, not scoring in his past 2 games in Thai League 1.
In the past, the head-to-head between these two teams has been quite even. Port FC have come out victorious in 4 of their last 8 games, while Muangthong United have won 3 and one had ended in a draw. Their latest meeting was a high scoring affair which ended in a narrow 4-3 win by Port FC in February of this year.
We predict that Port FC will be able to beat Muangthong United this week in what should be a close match. The fact that Port FC are playing at home could make a big difference in the outcome.
Prachuap Vs Uthai Thani (October 27)
Prachaup will be hosting Uthai Thani in a mid-table clash between the 8th and 9th placed teams respectively. Prachuap started off the season hot but have cooled off, managing just three draws and a loss in their last 4 games. Utah Thani were starting to build momentum until they ran into a mighty Buriram United team last week but will be looking to bounce back in Matchday 11.
Uthai Thani has the upperhand in the head-to-head having won 3 of their last 4 meetings with Prachuap. Expect this to be a hard fought game which could very well end up in a draw. We do however give Uthai Tahni a slight advantage as they have been playing better football as of late.
