Liverpool’s season continues to reach new lows, with setbacks piling up. Arne Slot and his team suffered a 2-1 defeat against Wolverhampton Wolves, the bottom-placed team in the Premier League.
This loss adds to the growing list of disappointments for The Reds as they struggle to secure a spot in the Champions League. Patience in Liverpool appears to be running thin -with Slot, but also with two ‘Dutch clowns.’
The match against Wolves presented Liverpool with a golden opportunity to stay in contention for Champions League qualification. With Aston Villa dropping points, the gap was only three points, suggesting this was a must-win game. Yet, Liverpool struggled once again.
Slot’s side couldn’t find the back of the net until the second half, with Mohamed Salah equalising in the 83rd minute. However, in stoppage time, Wolves secured a dramatic winner, leaving Liverpool with nothing to show for their efforts.
On X, fans have unleashed their disbelief and mounting frustration. “I’m absolutely done with this,” one supporter commented. “I might stop watching until Slot is no longer in charge.” The Dutch manager has been largely blamed for the team’s struggles: “This was a disastrous performance. And the outcome was even worse. If Slot isn’t gone by the end of this season… he has no clue what he’s doing; he needs to leave.”
Among fans of The Reds, patience seems to have reached its breaking point.
Liverpool seems to be struggling to find its stride this season, and for many, firing the manager appears to be the only option left. “With Klopp, we beat Wolves 4-0. Now, we can’t even manage to score a goal. And this Wolves team is the worst Wolves team ever. Slot needs to go. Any Liverpool fan with common sense agrees.”
If Liverpool fails to secure a spot in the Champions League this season, it will be deemed a failure. Many fans hold Slot accountable for this, although he isn’t the sole person to blame. “Edwards and Hughes (Liverpool’s management, ed.) should also leave. This season has been a disaster because of them. They should have acted three months ago. Now it’s too late, but if we miss out on Champions League football, Slot has to go.”
