The 2024/25 Serie A season is 5 matches down but still doesn’t have any teams jumping out to a clear lead in the standings. Currently, Torino are in first place with 11 points from three wins and 2 losses while Napoli and Udinese are tied for second with 10. Last season’s champions, Inter Milan, have had a slow start to their campaign after dropping to 6th place with a 2-1 loss to AC Milan this week.

Udinese Take First Loss of Season Against Roma, 3-0
Roma was able to cruise past Udinese 3-0 on Sunday to earn their first win of the Serie A season. Goals came from Artem Dovbyk, Paulo Dybala and Tommaso Baldanzi giving Roma a comfortable three points against Udinese who had been surprise league leaders after 4 games.
The win puts Roma into 10th place with a win, three draws and a loss, while the defeat drops Udinese to second behind Torino.
It was a turbulent week for Roma, with the surprise sacking of coach Daniele De Rossi last Wednesday. Ivan Juric took over the position just a few hours later but the backlash from fans led to the dismissal of chief executive Lina Souloukou on Sunday.
Despite the big changes in management, Roma came out firing, as they took the lead in the 19th minute when Dovbyk fired a shot into the bottom corner. Dybala doubled their advantage four minutes into the second half, when he converted a penalty following a foul by Jaka Bijol.
Baldanzi tacked on a third goal in the 70th to seal the game and end their four-match winless streak.
Next up for Roma will be Venezia next Sunday. Udinese will attempt to bounce back against Inter Milan on Saturday.
AC Milan Top Inter 2-1 In Clash Of Titans
Matteo Gabbia was able to nail a dramatic late winner for AC Milan as they beat their fierce rivals Inter in the Milan derby on Monday night. The centre-back drilled a header past Inter goalkeeper Yann Sommer in the 89th minute to secure his team a much needed 3 points and end a six game losing streak to Inter.
Earlier in the match, Christian Pulisic had given AC Milan the lead early but Inter were able to level in the 27th minute via wing-back Federico Dimarco. He became the first Milan-born player to score a Serie A goal in the Derby della Madonnina since Paolo Maldini back in 1994.
Milan almost took the lead again in the 65th minute when a penalty was called on Inter captain Lautaro Martinez for handball. The decision was reviewed however and overturned by video assistant referee as replays showed the ball hit his shoulder.
Both sides pushed hard to get a decisive goal late in the match. Milan’s best opportunity came from Tammy Abraham who fired just wide after beating Sommer. In the end it was Gabbia who was able to meet the ball at its highest on Reijnders’ free-kick to break the deadlock and win his team the game.
The loss was Inter’s first at home in the Serie A for over a year and pushed them to 6th in the standings, three points behind leaders Torino. AC on the other hand was able to jump to 7th just behind Inter with 8 points as well.
Next up for Inter will be a tough test against 2nd place Udinese. A win would likely put the team into the top 4 while a loss could severely hurt their chances of winning this season. AC Milan will take on Lecce on Saturday with a chance to move up the standings too.
