A Portuguese athlete highlights the Champions League as a crucial factor in determining the world’s best player for 2024/25; PSG stands out as the major victor.

Five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo was asked about this year’s award and asserted that it should be awarded to the Champions League victor. Ousmane Dembélé, who triumphed in the competition with PSG, is among the leading contenders for this prestigious individual honour.

The Real Madrid legend and Nations League champion also commended the talent of Barcelona’s rising star: “Yamal is performing exceptionally well. Let the boy grow without undue pressure,” Cristiano Ronaldo advised.

Regarded as one of the world’s finest footballers, Mbappé explained why he believes Paris Saint-Germain’s number 10 merits the accolade this season. He also acknowledged the young Spaniard in contention and expressed his intention to vote for his compatriot.

The forward netted 33 goals and contributed 15 assists for PSG during the 2024/25 season, including eight goals in the Champions League. Securing the most prestigious club competition greatly enhances the prospects of the former Borussia Dortmund and Barça player.
