It focused on developing first-class football talents. Awoniyi was invited to the academy by veteran Nigerian Footballer Seyi Olofinjana, who spotted him at a tournament in London.
He graduated from the football training program in 2012 and signed on the Nigeria U-15 team. From this team, he got his first real taste of international football. But even before that, he played in the Copa Coca-Cola youth soccer tournament in London.

Over the years, he has been compared to the legendary Rashini Yekini who holds the record for the highest goals scorer in Nigeria. But Awoniyi seems to be on track to possibly beat the record!
