📜 History of Ahmed Musa

Ahmed Musa was born to a multi-religious family. His mother is a staunch Christian while his father is a devoted Muslim. He was born in the Northern part of Nigeria, explaining the sequence of events that led him to join Kano Pillars. A close look into Ahmed Musa’s roots revealed he started out as a goalkeeper in primary school, which makes it a weird flex that he would go on to be a winger to be reckoned with. 

His football career kicked off when he joined BGS Football Academy in 2005. He played with BGS till 2008 before he got noticed by the NPFL. Ahmed came into the NPFL playing for Kano Pillars in 2009 and had such an interesting run before moving to VVV-Venlo on loan. From 2011, he started representing Nigeria, which has led him to be one of the notable players for the decade.

Ahmed Musa’s Career

One of the pivotal moments of his career was when he was loaned to JUTH FC in 2008. That move set precedence to his loan to Kano Pillars in 2009 where he had such an outstanding career. In 2010, he was transferred to a Dutch club, VVV-Venlo. It didn’t take him long to make a mark in the club that Goal.com recognized him by putting him in the list of Hot 100 football stars in the world to watch in 2011. 

In 2012, Ahmed Musa signed with a Russian club, CSKA Moscow where he got a chance to play in the UEFA Champions League for the first time in his career. In 2016, he made his debut in the English Premier League as a Leicester City player. 

He scored his first Premier League goal that same year against Crystal Palace. Ahmed Musa had such an underwhelming run in the Premier League that led him to be loaned to his previous club, CSKA Moscow, to round off the 2017 season. Early 2021, he rejoined Kano Pillars which became a headline in the Nigerian News. It was a move that was more about tracing back to his roots before completing his sojourn. Now, he is playing for a Turkish side, Fatih Karagümrük.

JUTH (2008)

Ahmed Musa was loaned to JUTH F.C in 2008. He had 18 appearances throughout his run for the team and scored four goals.

Kano Pillars (2009-2012)

Ahmed Musa’s career experienced a turn-around when he joined Kano Pillars in 2009. His time in Kano Pillars was so eventful that in his first season he set the record of scoring the highest goals ever in an NPFL season. He held onto that record in 2011, before Jude Aneke from Kaduna United beat it and set a new record.

Nigeria Senior Team (2010 till date)

In 2010, as a teenager, the player made his debut into the Nigerian Senior team where he played in the qualification match for the 2012 African Cup of Nations. Subsequently, in 2011, he joined the U-20 team to represent Nigeria in the 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup. So far, up until this moment, Ahmed Musa has gone to be one of the driving forces in the Nigerian Senior team. Currently, he is also recognized as the Super Eagles captain.

In 2016, Leicester City signed Ahmed Musa, which started a new chapter for him as he played in the English Premier League for the first time in his career. His performance experienced a decline not so long after that led him to be loaned back to his former club, CSKA Moscow.
