Manchester City has announced on their official website the acquisition of Gianluigi Donnarumma in a permanent transfer from Paris Saint-Germain. The 26-year-old goalkeeper successfully passed his medical examination and subsequently signed a long-term contract extending until June 30, 2030.

This transfer stands out as one of the most significant moves during the summer transfer window. Pep Guardiola views the experienced goalkeeper as the perfect addition to the squad.

The deal was completed for a fee of 30 million euros. The captain of the Italian national team will step into the shoes of Ederson, who, after years of service at the Etihad Stadium, has opted to move to Turkey’s Fenerbahce Istanbul.

The Citizens now embark on a new era with the Italian shot-stopper as their first-choice goalkeeper. Backing Donnarumma in the lineup of the ten-time English champions will be James Trafford, who delivered an impressive campaign with Burnley last season and now has the opportunity to hone his skills alongside the seasoned professional.

Gianluigi Donnarumma joins Manchester City following a successful spell at PSG, where he achieved a historic treble in the last season, winning the French league title, the domestic cup, and the Champions League. Despite this, the Parisian club unexpectedly decided to sell their star player, replacing him with Lucas Chevalier.

Donnarumma began his professional journey at AC Milan, where he made his debut as a 16-year-old and quickly emerged as one of the most promising goalkeepers globally. In 2021, he achieved European glory with the Italian national team, earning the title of the tournament’s best player.
