Eddie Howe is under mounting pressure following Newcastle United’s underwhelming start to the Premier League season. Speculation surrounding his potential departure is growing louder. The Magpies currently sit in 14th place, with just three wins from their first eleven matches. Although the team has delivered praiseworthy performances in the Champions League, consistency in domestic competitions remains elusive.

The “Daily Mirror” reports that the Newcastle board is preparing for the possibility of a managerial change and has already shortlisted four potential successors. The candidates include Andoni Iraola from Bournemouth, Oliver Glasner of Crystal Palace, Kieran McKenna from Ipswich Town, and the former Barcelona coach, Xavi Hernandez.

Among these, Xavi stands out as the most accessible option, as he is currently without a club. Having parted ways with Barcelona, the Spaniard has yet to take on a new project, despite being previously linked with Juventus. However, doubts may linger at Newcastle over whether the 44-year-old has the depth of experience required to navigate the rigors of Premier League management.

Meanwhile, Iraola and Glasner have already proven their credentials in English football. Both managers have rapidly shaped their teams with distinctive styles of play, demonstrating an ability to compete effectively against stronger opponents.

McKenna, on the other hand, has been delivering impressive results with Ipswich, yet his lack of experience at the top level could be a potential drawback.

Currently, Howe still enjoys the confidence of Newcastle’s management, but the situation is becoming increasingly tense. If the results fail to improve, the club at St James’ Park may soon turn the page and bring in a new head coach.
