Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has put an end to all speculation surrounding his future. The midfielder, whose previous contract was set to expire in June 2026, had drawn interest from several top-tier European clubs. However, Al Hilal moved decisively to secure the services of their midfield anchor.
The Saudi club officially announced that Milinkovic-Savic has signed a new deal, extending his stay with the team until June 30, 2028. This signifies that the Serbian international will continue to be a central figure under the leadership of Simone Inzaghi.
– The Al Hilal board, led by Prince Nawaf Bin Saad, has successfully finalised the contract extension for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic until 2028. The agreement was signed on Sunday evening at the club’s headquarters in Riyadh, the club stated in an official announcement.
This development delivers another blow to the transfer ambitions of Juventus. The Italian club had been monitoring Milinkovic-Savic for a long time, hoping for his return to European football. Juventus had planned to bolster their midfield during the winter transfer window, but the announcement has effectively ruled out any move.
A comparable situation occurred with Sandro Tonali, another prime target of Juventus, who recently extended his contract with Newcastle. As a result, the Italian side will now have to scout for alternative options, as Milinkovic-Savic remains committed to his role at Al Hilal for the foreseeable future.
