The group stages of the Champions League are nearing their conclusion. With the 7th matchday wrapped up, teams have just one game left to play. During the recent round, Kylian Mbappé added to his goal tally, scoring twice in the clash against AS Monaco. Currently, he leads the scoring chart with a significant margin over his competitors. Harry Kane is sitting in second place with seven goals to his name.

Other players rounding up the top spots include Anthony Gordon, Erling Haaland, and Victor Osimhen. Each of these stars has netted six goals after seven matches. Considering Mbappé’s current form and the ongoing group stage, there’s a possibility the record for most goals in a single Champions League season could be broken. The current record is held by Cristiano Ronaldo.

In the 2013/2014 season, while leading Real Madrid to Champions League glory, Cristiano Ronaldo scored an impressive total of 17 goals. Two seasons later, he nearly matched his own feat, ending with 16 goals. Meanwhile, in the 2019/2020 campaign, Robert Lewandowski scored 15 goals, securing the third spot on the all-time single-season scorers’ list.

Champions League Top Scorers after Matchday 7:

  1. Kylian Mbappé (Real Madrid) – 11 goals
  2. Harry Kane (Bayern Munich) – 7 goals
  3. Anthony Gordon (Newcastle) – 6 goals
  4. Erling Haaland (Manchester City) – 6 goals
  5. Victor Osimhen (Galatasaray) – 6 goals
