Manchester City is implementing an ambitious strategy to bolster its attacking options. The Premier League powerhouse has identified Antoine Semenyo as a key target. A release clause set at over €74 million (£65 million) is valid until January 10th. However, reports from Fabrizio Romano suggest that the Manchester club might have devised an alternative approach to secure the player’s signature.
The journalist revealed on platform X that the Citizens’ management plans to engage with representatives of Bournemouth this week to discuss the transfer of the 25-year-old. Manchester City appears hopeful that they can propose a restructured deal for the player, incorporating adjustments not only to the contract but also to the payment terms.
The Ghana international, who has earned 32 caps, joined Bournemouth in January 2023 after the club paid over €10 million for his transfer. He has been an integral part of the squad at Vitality Stadium since then.
Prior to his move to Bournemouth, Semenyo played for Bristol City, Sunderland, and Newport County. So far in this season, he has participated in 17 matches, scoring eight goals and providing three assists, spending close to 1,500 minutes on the pitch.
An opportunity for Semenyo to enhance his record may arise on Saturday. On that day, Bournemouth will face Brentford. The match, part of the 18th round of the Premier League, is scheduled to kick off at 4:00 PM.
