In the summer of 2025, Liverpool underwent an ambitious transfer overhaul. The Reds added Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitiké, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, Giovanni Leoni, and Freddie Woodman to their squad. The team spent a total of 483 million euros on these reinforcements.

All signs suggest that another star will join Anfield Road after the end of the season. The reigning English champions are set to welcome Adam Wharton as their new player.

The 21-year-old, a three-time England international, is one of the most sought-after talents in Europe. Wharton is currently under contract with Crystal Palace until June 30, 2029, and has a market valuation of 60 million euros according to Transfermarkt.

Liverpool is well aware that the defensive midfielder’s transfer fee will exceed that valuation. To stay ahead of the competition, the club has already reached an agreement with the player. Nicolo Schira reports that Wharton has accepted the offer of a five-year contract and is prepared to take the next step in his career.

Crystal Palace acknowledges that their academy product, who started at Blackburn Rovers, will leave at the end of the season, but they do not intend to sell him for a low price. Only an offer nearing 100 million euros is likely to convince the Eagles to part ways with him.
