La Liga 2024/2025 Summer Transfer News

Last Updated on

With just a couple weeks left until the start of the 2024/25 season in La Liga, many of the top teams are looking to make some last minute changes to their rosters. Keep reading for a list of the latest summer transfer news in the top Spanish league.

Bryan Gil Joins Girona On Loan From Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur winger Bryan Gil joined Girona on a one-season loan deal for an undisclosed amount. The Spurs signed Gil from Sevilla for £21 million in 2021 but he has not seen much playing time since then for the English club. The Spaniard made 31 appearances since his move, which includes just two starts in the Premier League.

Last year Gil returned to Sevilla on a sixth-month loan deal in January 2023 after spending the first half of the 2021-22 campaign at Valencia. Despite playing the entire last season at Tottenham, he made just 12 appearances and didn’t seem to fit into the team’s offensive schemes.

The move to Girona is a great opportunity for Gil, after the team qualified for this season’s Champions League for the first time in their history. He will attempt to fill in the hole left by Savinho who was huge for Girona last season, scoring nine goals to go along with 10 assists.

Pau Victor Moves From Girona To Barcelona

Barcelona confirmed that they struck a deal with Girona to acquire striker Pau Victor for the next five years. Barcelona failed to pick up the purchase option but reportedly paid around 2.5 million euros to land Victor on loan.

Victor had a terrific season with Barca Atletic last year, finishing as their top scorer as they made it to the promotion play-off final. The 22-year-old striker first came to Girona as a youth player, having made his debut in Segunda A at the age of 18.

Even though he played regularly with Girona B, he was only part of 8 games with the first team before going on loan to CE Sabadell in 2022. After renewing for two more seasons with Girona FC last year, he was given out on loan again, this time to play for FC Barcelona Atlètic.

Hugo Novoa Joins Alaves Permanently

After three consecutive loan outs, RB Leipzig confirmed that they would be parting ways with the striker Hugo Novoa last week. The 21-year-old will be moving back home to Deportivo Alaves for a reported transfer fee of €1.5 million.

The German team initially signed Novoa back in 2019 but he didn’t see much playing time with the squad. In his tenure in the Bundesliga, he was able to score two goals in 15 league appearances at Leipzig over the course of the 2021/22 and 2022/23 campaigns. He holds the record for the youngest goalscorer in the history of the club.

Even with the promising start at Leipzig, Novia never really gained momentum with the team as he found it hard to crack the first team. He was given out on loan the past couple of seasons to Basel, Utrecht and then Villareal most recently. He is expected to have a much larger role at Alaves next season where he should have a starting position.

Endrick Signs With Real Madrid

After announcing their acquisition of 17-year-old Brazilian phenom Endrick, Real Madrid finally inked in the deal on July 27. The forward signed a contract that will have him with the current La Liga champions for the next six seasons.

Endrick transferred from Sao Paulo-based Palmeiras in 2022, with the intention of him joining Madrid in July 2024 after turning 18. It was reported that Endrick transferred for an initial fee of 35 million euros, with a further 25 million euros in possible add-ons.

A product of the Palmeiras academy, Endrick has played for the Brazilian national team, scoring three goals in 10 appearances for his country since his debut last year. He is the youngest male to have ever scored an international goal at Wembley Stadium.

In his domestic career, he scored 21 times in 82 games for Palmeiras.
