Thiago Motta is on the brink of being dismissed following Juventus‘s back-to-back losses, causing them to fall out of Serie A’s top four. As reported by Fabrizio Romano on Thursday, the coach’s future is currently a hot topic within the club. The upcoming match against Genoa on March 29 could be critical for his tenure.
According to “La Gazzetta dello Sport”, the frontrunners to replace Motta are former Italy coach Roberto Mancini and ex-Juventus defender Igor Tudor. Both coaches are available and willing to take over immediately. “Mancini and Tudor are unafraid of the challenge to secure a top-four finish or compete in the Club World Cup. They could take charge of Juventus as soon as tomorrow,” highlighted journalist Filippo Cornacchia.
However, both Tudor and Mancini have indicated they expect a contract lasting at least one and a half years, until the end of the 2025/26 season. “Corriere dello Sport” reveals that Juventus has already initiated preliminary talks with Tudor. In the summer, candidates like Antonio Conte and Gian Piero Gasperini might also be considered, but only if the club postpones any coaching changes until the end of the season.
The coming days will be crucial for Juventus, since the club fears losing their spot in next year’s Champions League edition.
Such a scenario would be disastrous for the club and force the Old Lady to revise their transfer plans once again. Missing out on the Champions League means a loss of approximately 50 million euros.
