Timothy Weah had been on the verge of leaving Juventus for some time. Early discussions revolved around a move to Nottingham Forest, followed by potential transfer talks with Olympique Marseille. However, neither deal ever came to fruition, leading to growing frustration.
According to a report from “Sportitalia,” the player’s agent, Badou Sambague, has openly criticised Juventus for their handling of the negotiations. “There are two individuals in the club who conduct themselves with professionalism, but there is a third person who still hasn’t found their place. The first two look for solutions, while the third creates obstacles. This is unacceptable for us,” he stated, as quoted by Alfredo Pedullà. The agent suggested that one of Juventus’ representatives is acting out of resentment over Weah’s omission during the World Cup and is now demanding an unrealistic transfer fee.
Marseille had tabled an offer of 15 million euros, which matched Nottingham Forest’s earlier proposal. While Juventus initially accepted the offer from Nottingham Forest, the deal collapsed when Weah failed to reach an agreement with the English side. At present, Juventus is demanding 20 million euros, prompting Marseille to explore other options for the right flank.
Previously, Samuel Mbangula was also considered part of a potential deal. Nottingham Forest proposed a combined package worth 20 million euros, allocating 15 million for Weah and 5 million for Mbangula. However, the negotiations fell through. Eventually, Mbangula signed with Werder Bremen for a fee of 10 million euros, plus additional bonuses.
The future of Timothy Weah remains unresolved.
The club is holding out hope for an offer from the Premier League, but the player’s agent emphasises that no proposal will be approved unless it fully aligns with his client’s expectations. Meanwhile, time is working against Juventus – the player remains excluded from the coach’s plans, and prospective buyers are beginning to back out.
