Jude Bellingham is set to undergo surgery this summer. The Real Madrid midfielder has been struggling for months with a persistent shoulder injury and will have the operation after the Club World Cup. The English player sustained the injury in November 2023 during a match against Rayo Vallecano but has continued playing ever since with the aid of a protective strap.

After a sensational start in Madrid, where he clinched both the La Liga and Champions League titles and was named Player of the Year, this season has been a disappointment. Real Madrid missed out on major honours, and Bellingham has struggled to maintain his peak performance. To make matters worse, he has dealt with several physical issues, with his shoulder being the most persistent problem.

According to The Athletic, medical staff have now concluded that surgery is the only viable solution to resolve the issue permanently. Bellingham is still expected to participate in the Club World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in the United States in mid-June. Newly-appointed coach Xabi Alonso is anticipated to make his debut during this tournament, following Carlo Ancelotti’s departure from Real Madrid at the conclusion of the season.
