The contract of Mike Maignan with Milan is set to expire on June 30, 2026. At present, there are minimal signs suggesting that both parties could reach an agreement on a new deal.

This scenario indicates that the French goalkeeper might leave San Siro as a free agent at the end of the season. The Rossoneri captain has been heavily linked with moves to Chelsea or Paris Saint-Germain, making one of these clubs a likely destination for the next chapter of his career.

In light of this, AC Milan has been actively searching for a new goalkeeper for some time now. At the top of their shortlist lies Hugo Souza.

Reportedly, Milan officials have already made an initial bid for the Corinthians goalkeeper, offering €10 million. However, this offer was deemed insufficient and ultimately rejected.

According to Ekrem Konur, the Rossoneri are currently preparing a revised and significantly higher offer. It is anticipated that the transfer could be completed during the winter window or, at the latest, by next summer.

The Brazilian international, who has earned one cap for his country, has been a reliable presence between the posts for Corinthians since July 2024. He joined the club from Flamengo, where he had developed as a player, in a €1 million transfer.

During the previous season, Hugo Souza made 56 appearances, conceded 50 goals, and achieved an impressive 26 clean sheets. Notably, his team recently secured the Brazilian Cup a few days ago.
