Juventus had plans to bolster their defence in January, but discussions with Feyenoord over David Hancko fell through. The Rotterdam club was unwilling to part with two key players simultaneously, as Milan had finalised the transfer of Santiago Gimenez just the day before. Losing both an offensive leader and a defensive cornerstone would have been too significant a blow for the Dutch side, leading them to reject the Old Lady’s last bid.
Nevertheless, the Bianconeri are not giving up and are already gearing up to secure Hancko’s transfer in the summer. The former Fiorentina player is expected to join the club at the beginning of the summer transfer window, with the deal estimated at around 22 million euros. Juventus has promised him a five-year contract with a salary of 2.5 million euros per season.
The winter transfer window did not fully meet Juventus’ expectations, despite securing Randal Kolo Muani, Renato Veiga, Alberto Costa, and Lloyd Kelly. The acquisition of the latter, in particular, sparked some controversy – the Englishman could have joined the club for free in the summer, but ultimately the Old Lady paid nearly 20 million euros for him.
Now, Hancko remains the top target for the next window. Juventus seeks to avoid another setback and will continue discussions to finalise the transfer smoothly this summer.
