Santiago Gimenez is currently facing a challenging phase with Milan. The forward has been sidelined for over a month due to an ankle injury.

He is training individually and will miss the next two fixtures. His situation is further complicated by his lack of impact this season, managing only a single goal and failing to score at all in Serie A.

During the summer, the player opted to remain with the club, hoping to secure a spot in the starting eleven. However, the early stage of the campaign has demonstrated that his efforts have fallen flat. Under Allegri’s management, his standing in the pecking order has only declined.

La Gazzetta dello Sport now reports that the striker is seriously contemplating a transfer. His agent is actively evaluating opportunities in the market, and discussions regarding a potential January move are already underway. Gimenez is eager to avoid spending further time on the bench and is seeking a new team to rediscover his form and confidence.

Initial interest has emerged from England. Sunderland, Brentford, and West Ham are reportedly monitoring the Mexican forward’s situation closely and weighing up proposals. Since his arrival at Milan in January 2025 for €28.5 million plus add-ons, the club is keen to recoup a significant portion of that investment. The Rossoneri are open to letting him leave, as they are actively exploring potential reinforcements for their attack.

One option being considered is Jean-Philippe Mateta from Crystal Palace. Milan has been keeping an eye on the French striker for several weeks and sees him as a viable replacement if the January transfer window facilitates changes. The club is determined to have a plan in place should Gimenez depart.
