Liverpool faces a pivotal transfer window as they prepare for life without Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian star announced some time ago that this season would be his final one at Anfield.

Although his contract officially runs until June 2027, he has reached an agreement with the club to terminate it early. The Reds now have the challenge of finding a new standout player to lead the team.

There has been constant speculation about potential candidates. However, Steven Gerrard, the Liverpool legend, has pointed to a specific name. Speaking to talkSport, Gerrard suggested that Michael Olise could be an ideal replacement for Salah. Yet, making this transfer a reality seems unlikely.

I think the challenge with trying to replace Mohamed Salah one-for-one is simply that players like him are incredibly rare in the current market – Steven Gerrard commented during his talkSport interview.

Michael Olise could certainly be one of those options, but I don’t believe he’s realistically available. From my perspective as a former Liverpool player and based on what I’ve observed, the recruitment team often focuses on having a range of options rather than seeking an exact replica of a player – he added.

Since his move to Bayern Munich, Olise has evolved into one of the world’s most impressive wingers. Over just two seasons, he has accumulated 36 goals and 52 assists across 96 appearances in all competitions.

Prior to that, he showcased his talent at Crystal Palace, which means he is already well-versed in the challenges of playing in the Premier League. Transfermarkt evaluates the French footballer at a staggering 140 million euros.
