FC Barcelona is planning to ease its wage bill during the summer transfer window. The club is aiming to strengthen its attacking lineup, which has led to considerations of selling a defender. Among the potential candidates is Gerard Martin, who has been a regular presence on the field this season, featuring in as many as 33 matches, although he rarely plays the full 90 minutes.

The Spanish center-back is versatile and has garnered praise for his recent progress. However, financial constraints are forcing the club to make tough choices. AC Milan has expressed interest in the young defender, particularly as they look to bolster their left defensive side. Barcelona might be open to a deal worth approximately 30 million euros, despite the player extending his contract until 2028 just a year ago.

Even though the 23-year-old is valued highly by the club, the management is focused on reshaping the squad. According to reports, the current financial scenario doesn’t allow for bringing in new players without initiating a prior sale. Hence, parting ways with Martin could be a sensible decision.

As a result, the defender’s future with the club appears less assured than it once was. However, everything hinges on specific offers and the outcome of discussions between the clubs.
