Galatasaray vs Alanyaspor – The Shocking Showdown That’s Rocking the Football World!

Victor Osimhen of Galatasaray

Galatasaray

Last match: An away draw (2-2) with Rīgas Skola. Mertens (12’) scored the opener for Galatasaray, Akbaba (38’) made it 0-2, but the Latvians equalized with Ikaunieks (40’) and Ondisari (54’).

Galatasaray failed to learn from their surprising “draw” last Saturday and once again let a significant lead slip on Thursday in Latvia during the 2nd matchday of the Europa League against a lesser opponent.

Galatasaray started dominantly in Riga, taking the lead in a crowded area and striking vertically to make it 0-2. However, poor game management saw them concede during a transition before halftime, and a lethargic start to the second half resulted in a second goal.

They didn’t exert enough pressure after the 2-2 and squandered another two points. Similar to their home match with Kasımpaşa, where they overwhelmed their opponent in the first half with Icardi and Osimhen scoring for a 3-0 lead, but relaxed in the second half and conceded the equalizer (3-3) due to late-game anxiety.

Coach Buruk apologized to the fans after the European “blunder” and had private talks with several underperforming players.

First-choice keeper Muslera, who was suspended in Europe, is available again, as is the newly-signed forward/exterity player Salai, who missed the European squad list deadline.

Ziyech (winger) has returned to training but isn’t fully fit yet, and Osimhen (forward), who missed the trip to Latvia due to discomfort, might be rested today as well.

Galatasaray Statistics

  • Over 3.5 goals in their last 7 matches, across all competitions.
  • Both teams have scored in 5 out of the last 7 home games in the league.

Alanyaspor

Last match: Home win (1-0) against Rizespor. Janvier scored the decisive goal in the 33rd minute.

The team from the southern coast secured back-to-back wins, keeping a clean sheet for the third consecutive game, and climbed the standings after a troublesome start (0-3-2).

Alanyaspor had the first threatening situation in the match, but Rizespor wasted a big double chance before the decisive goal, when the hosts capitalized on a defensive misplacement on the left flank.

Rizespor’s Zeqiri hit the post from close range seconds later, but in the second half, Alanyaspor played smartly in a low block (39% possession) and their goal was not significantly threatened.

“We are a team trying to maintain good passing game, and we must persistently continue on this path,” stated coach Tekke.

Injured in the last game, Hwang (forward) missed training sessions. He is unlikely to be ready for today’s match, while Bayir (center back) remains sidelined.

Alanyaspor Statistics

  • Under 2.5 goals in 4 out of their last 5 matches.
  • Both teams have scored in 3 out of the last 5 away games in the league.
