Kuwait will host Jordan at the Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium on Tuesday, November 19th in the third round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. The match is a critical one for both teams who sit at the opposite ends of the table at the moment.
After five matches, Jordan currently is in second place in Group B of the qualifiers with 8 points. They are level on points with Iraq but currently are ahead on goal difference. The two team’s faced off in the last matchday which ended in a 0-0 to keep them level on points.
Group leaders South Korea have opened up a five point gap over both teams with 13 points in their five matches. The only match they didn’t win was against Palestine, which ended in a scoreless draw.
Kuwait are yet to post a win in the qualifiers, securing three draws to go with their two losses. At only 3 points, they are in a position where they will require multiple wins in their upcoming fixtures to have any chance of pushing for a World Cup spot.
Jordan
Jordan started off the third round of their qualifiers with a 1-1 draw against Kuwait at the Amman International Stadium on September 5th. Although Jordan dominated the contest with 16 shots on goal compared to the 5 by Kuwait, a last minute score by Yousef Nasser in extra time made sure both teams received just one point.
In their second match, Jordan went up against Palestine who they were able to beat quite handily by the score of 3-1. They then went on to lose to South Korea 2-0 at home and dominate Oman 4-0 in their fourth matchup. Their latest match against Iraq was extremely defensive with both teams trying their best not to lose and give the other team the advantage in the standings.
It should be noted that Ali Alwan, a key player for the Jordan national football team, has reportedly suffered an ankle sprain. The injury happened just days before departing for their match in Kuwait. It is still unclear if Alwan will be available on Tuesday.
Kuwait
After their draw against Jordan, things have been downhill for Kuwait in the qualifiers. They drew against Iraq 0-0, despite being a man ahead for most of the 90 minutes. Kuwait then suffered a bad loss to Oman 4-0 which seemed to hurt the team’s confidence. After securing their second draw against Palestine, 2-2, they met a mighty South Korean team in their last match which beat them 3-1.
So far Kuwait had not impressed in their first meetings with each of the Group B teams. They do however have the opportunity to turn things around but it will have to begin with a win against a solid Jordanian team.
Kuwait Vs Jordan Head-To-Head and Predictions
There have been 27 matches between these two teams in the past. Jordan has won six times compared to the 10 wins of Kuwait, while 11 matches have ended in draws. Kuwait’s last win however came all the way back in October of 2014, when they defeated Jordan 1-0 in a friendly.
In the past 10 years, the sides have played each other eight times in which six matches have ended in ties. This includes the 1-1 draw between the two teams in their opener to the ongoing qualifiers.
Kuwait hasn’t been in the best of form this year, playing 11 official matches and winning just one, 1-0 vs Afghanistan in the last round of the World Cup qualifiers.
Based on the current form of both teams this match is expected to go in favor of Jordan. The two teams do however have a history of tying against each other, so it wouldn’t be very surprising if Tuesday ended in another draw.
This match will be a must-win for Kuwait who desperately need a win going into the back end of the qualifiers with just 3 points. Jordan equally needs the win to stay ahead of Iraq, who will be meeting Oman in their Matchday 6 encounter.
