Barcelona could potentially offload one of their key players during the summer transfer window. Given the club’s ongoing financial instabilities, any squad reinforcements must be balanced with departures. For a while now, names like Frenkie de Jong, Gavi, and Ronald Araujo have been linked with exits from Catalonia. Recently, “El Nacional” has reported that Fermin Lopez might be considering a move, as he is not fully content with his current role on the team.
Fermin has had to accept a secondary role. Although Hansi Flick has featured him in 34 matches, the total minutes he has played don’t satisfy him. So far, he has accumulated just under 1400 minutes on the pitch, contributing with five goals and eight assists.
The 21-year-old understands that breaking into the Barcelona starting lineup will be challenging. Flick prefers players like Pedri, de Jong, Gavi, and Dani Olmo. Therefore, the idea of leaving has surfaced, although nothing is set in stone yet. Certainly, Fermin wouldn’t struggle to find a new club – Premier League giants such as Liverpool, Manchester United, and Newcastle United are reportedly interested.
The Reds are even prepared to bid 50 million euros.
Fermin had a breakout last season when he permanently moved from the reserves to the first team. He started off with a bang, but eventually, his performance waned. Nonetheless, he still has the potential to become a major star with a different team.
