This competition will hold between February 19 and March 11, 2023, with 12 teams competing for the title. Nigeria has the highest number of titles, winning the Afcon cup seven times. Ghana is the current champion and has won it 4 times.
There are three groups consisting of four teams each in this tournament, and each team will play each other to qualify for the knockout stage.
Egypt is the host country, and they join Mozambique, Senegal, and Nigeria in Group A. Congo, Uganda, Central African Republic, and South Sudan are in Group, while Gambia, Tunisia, Benin and Zambia are in Group C.
Team rankings in each group depend on points (3 for a win, 1 for a draw, and 0 for a loss). When there is a tie, the points for head-to-head take priority. What follows next is the goals difference, and goals in head-to-head matches decide last.
After the group stage, the top two teams in each team advance to the quarter-finals. Also, there is a place for the “best losers,” where two of the three teams that finished third in their groups will advance into the quarter-finals.
