Another week of English Premier League action from the 2024/25 season is behind us which included a number of interesting storylines. In a top of the table clash, Man City took on Arsenal at Etihad Stadium on Sunday night, ending in a dramatic 2-2 draw. The result keeps Man City at the top of the table after 5 weeks but only barely, sitting on 13 points.
Elsewhere Liverpool and Aston Villa were able to gain ground on Man City with wins over Bournemouth and the Wolves respectively. Chelsea also notched their second win in a row against West Ham, after a disappointing start to the season.

John Stones Saves Man City Against Arsenal To secure 2-2 Draw
John Stones’ equalizer in the 98th minute saved Manchester City on Sunday night at the Etihad Stadium, securing a draw against Arsenal. Despite being a man down for a significant portion of the match, Arsenal were just moments away from getting their first win at Etihad Stadium in almost 10 years. With the draw, Man City are still at the top of the EPL leaderboard with 13 points, while Arsenal dropped to 4th with 11.
Erling Haaland broke the deadlock early in the ninth-minute, with his 10th goal of the season to lead all players. The visitors hit back in the 22nd minute when Riccardo Calafiori curled a ball in from outside the box to level the score.
City lost midfielder Rodri to injury 21 minutes into the game when he seemed to twist his knee while tangling with Arsenal’s Thomas Partey. He stayed out the rest of the game.
Arsenal took the lead just before halftime when Gabriel headed a Bukayo Saka corner for the second time in seven days. Shortly before Leandro Trossard was given a red card for kicking the ball away during first-half added time which put his team down a man.
Arsenal held on to their thin lead in the second half but had their win stolen by Stones in the waning minutes. Stones was able to latch on to a blocked shot by Kovacic who forced one past the Arsenal Goalkeeper in traffic.
Diaz Scores Twice In Liverpool 3-0 Win Over Bournemouth
Luis Diaz had 2 goals in the first half as Liverpool returned to winning ways in the Premier League with an 3-0 victory over Bournemouth at Anfield.
After a disappointing 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest last weekend, Liverpool came out all guns blazing. Still it was Bournmouth who had the first real opportunity but Antoine Semenyo’s goal was disallowed by the video assistant referee for offside.
Liverpool responded with Diaz, who collected a ball from Kepa Arrizabalaga and slid it into an empty net to open the scoring. The Columbian star struck again just a few moments later to double the hosts lead. First he collected a pass from Trent Alexander-Arnold and then fired through Kepa’s legs from close range.
Nunez, who made his first Premier League start since April, was able to increase the lead to 3-0 with a huge booming drive. It was his first goal in the top-flight in five months when Liverpool beat Sheffield United 3-1.
Bournemouth also had their opportunities to get on the scoreboard but were denied by the crossbar in the latter stages of the match. The loss was the team’s second in a row after starting the season with 2 draws and a win.
With the win, Liverpool now sit in second position in the Premier League just one point Behind Man City. Bournemouth fall to 13th place and look like they will be stuck in the middle of the table for the time being.
