AC Milan, under the guidance of Massimiliano Allegri this season, has emerged as a strong contender for the Serie A title. Following 15 matchdays, the Rossoneri hold the second spot in the league standings, trailing leaders Inter Milan by just a single point. The club is also nearing the completion of a loan deal for Niclas Fullkrug from West Ham.
Meanwhile, the club has announced the termination of their contract with Divock Origi. The Belgian striker joined the San Siro squad during the summer of 2022 on a free transfer from Liverpool. However, his time at AC Milan failed to meet expectations.
Recurring injuries combined with the challenges of adapting to the competitive nature of Serie A hindered the 30-year-old from reaching his full potential. During his stint, Origi managed to score just two goals across 36 appearances. Following his initial season, he spent the subsequent year on loan at Nottingham Forest. Upon his return to Milan, he was sidelined and relegated to training away from the first team.
This protracted situation has now come to a definitive resolution. With just six months left on his contract, Origi has agreed to a mutual termination, granting him the freedom to explore new opportunities and rebuild his career. Notably, the Belgian striker has not been included in the squad this season, even as a substitute.
A 32-time capped Belgian international, Origi has previously played for clubs like LOSC Lille and VfL Wolfsburg. He now has the chance to start afresh, aiming to rediscover his form and make an impact with a new team.
