Manchester City is planning a major squad overhaul this summer following a disappointing season. As a result, the futures of several key players are uncertain. After the conclusion of the season, players such as Ederson, Bernardo Silva, Jack Grealish, and Mateo Kovacic might bid farewell to the club. Also on this list is Kevin De Bruyne, whose contract is set to expire.

The Belgian international is a player without whom it is hard to imagine the “Citizens” squad. Under Pep Guardiola’s management, the 33-year-old has been crucial in their numerous domestic and international successes each season.

However, it appears that this successful partnership might come to an end in June. Currently, there are no signs pointing to De Bruyne staying at Etihad Stadium. Furthermore, other clubs are vying for the experienced midfielder’s signature, with significant interest from both MLS and the Saudi Pro League. Recently, an unexpected candidate has emerged in this race.

According to Foot Mercato, De Bruyne is in talks with Neom SC, a team in Saudi Arabia’s second division. The source reveals that the initial discussions have been very positive, and the star seems open to the idea of playing in the Arabian Peninsula. Future negotiations are expected to continue, as the 33-year-old is eager for new experiences.

Neom SC, currently competing in the 2nd League, appears to be on the brink of securing a promotion to the Saudi Pro League. With eight matches remaining in the season, they hold the top position in the standings, boasting a 7-point lead over Al-Hazem in second place. Commenting on a potential club transfer, De Bruyne expressed: “At my age, one needs to stay open to all possibilities. We’re discussing incredible sums of money towards the end of a career. Sometimes it’s worth considering,” the Belgian previously stated, as reported by Foot Mercato.
