Sam Beukema has emerged as one of the standout defenders in Serie A this season. He leads the league in aerial duels won and accurate passes, and remarkably, he is the only central defender with at least 15 appearances who has yet to receive a yellow card.

His impressive performances have caught the eye of Juventus, Inter, and even top clubs like Atletico and Real Madrid. However, the Dutchman remains composed. “My father is my agent, and I’ve always told him we will only discuss matters when there is concrete interest. So far, we haven’t talked about the transfer market”, revealed Beukema.

The defender has a particular affection for Italy, having spent countless summers in Riccione during his childhood. “I love Bologna; it’s a city rich in culture with amazing people and passionate fans. I feel at home here”, he added.

Beukema openly admits that he looks up to his compatriot, Virgil van Dijk. “I believe he is a class above everyone else. My dream is to play alongside him for the national team”, stated the defender.

The Dutchman also enjoys great camaraderie with Joshua Zirkzee and Dan Ndoye. “We have a group chat where we talk not just about football, but about life as well. There’s an incredible bond between us that continues to thrive”, Beukema shared.

Bologna, initially under the leadership of Thiago Motta and now Vincenzo Italiano, is steadily solidifying its position in Serie A. Beukema is confident that the team has the potential to return to European competitions. – We are like a family, united as one. Before the match against Juventus, we were shown a video with greetings from our families and loved ones. Seeing my parents say they were proud of me gave me chills – he recalls.

Beukema’s career began as an attacking midfielder, then he played as a playmaker, and eventually transitioned to a central defender. – As I grew, I realized it would be tough to compete as an offensive player – he explains.
