Nicolo Barella has once again caught the attention of affluent clubs, with a record-breaking offer from Saudi Arabia this time. According to “La Gazzetta dello Sport,” Al-Hilal, a club managed by the powerful PIF fund, is planning to acquire the Inter midfielder to form a team capable of competing at the highest level during the upcoming Club World Cup.
The Saudis, who have previously signed players like Sergej Milinković-Savić and Kalidou Koulibaly, now have substantial resources for both transfers and high salaries following Neymar’s departure. The offer for Barella would be extraordinary: a four-year contract with an annual salary of 35 million euros, making him the highest-paid Italian footballer in history. For context, Barella currently earns 6.5 million euros per season at Inter, with his contract running until 2029.
However, as the Italian media assures, the player remains unfazed by the massive sums from Saudi Arabia. Barella has previously turned down offers from top European clubs and does not plan to change his environment now.
His primary goal is to continue competing at the highest level in Europe, with a specific focus on the 2026 World Cup, where he aims to lead the Italian national team.
Inter likewise firmly rejects the notion of selling Barella, viewing him as a key player for the team. Currently, neither the club nor the player is swayed by Saudi millions.
