In his own unique way, the iconic Mario Balotelli isn’t ready to call it quits just yet. At 34 years old, he finds himself without a club as of July 1, following the expiration of his contract with Rossoblu at the end of the season.

Genoa opted not to extend their partnership with the Euro 2012 top scorer, leaving Balotelli in search of a new club. Speaking with Carlo Laudisa, the Italian player who has represented his country 36 times shed light on what comes next in his career.

“I’d love to say where I’ll play, but I honestly can’t name a specific team,” admitted the seasoned forward. “However, my dream remains to play for Real Madrid”, he added, before quickly bringing himself back down to earth.

“I’m looking for a club that believes in me. I want to continue playing for two to three more years. After that, I’ll join my brother Enock. I promised him I’d end my career playing alongside him,” revealed the three-time Serie A champion with Inter Milan and Champions League winner in the Nerazzurri jersey.

Balotelli parted ways with Adana Demirspor at the conclusion of the 2023/24 season and only secured a deal with Genoa in late October 2024. During his brief stint with Rossoblu, he managed to appear in just six matches, spending a total of only 56 minutes on the field.

His last appearance took place on December 21 in a match against Napoli, after which a serious hand injury sidelined him for the rest of the season. As recently as July, there was speculation about the Italian potentially continuing his career in the United States or Mexico.
