Arsenal once enjoyed a comfortable lead at the top of the Premier League table. However, recent setbacks, including draws against Brentford and Wolves and a loss to Bournemouth, have rejuvenated Manchester City’s belief in their title chances. Furthermore, last Sunday’s head-to-head clash saw the Citizens claim victory over the Gunners (2-1), closing the gap to just three points.

Adding to Arsenal’s concerns, Manchester City has played one fewer match. If they win their game in hand, they will catch up to Arsenal on points, potentially leaving goal difference as the deciding factor. At present, Arsenal holds a better goal difference, but this could change as the race intensifies.

Mikel Arteta addressed the title chase during a press conference. The manager remains optimistic and firmly believes his team has what it takes to claim the Premier League crown. According to him, the fate of the title is firmly within Arsenal’s control.

This is not the end of the title race. We still have five matches to play, while they have six. We are three points ahead. […] We are completely confident that we can achieve this. Once again, we demonstrated the strength of our team. Everything is in our hands, and the champion’s title is within our grasp – said Mikel Arteta after the match, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.

In their next fixture, Arsenal will face Newcastle, whereas Manchester City will clash with Burnley. It’s also important to note that Arteta’s side remains active in the Champions League. Their semifinal opponents in the quest for a spot in the grand final will be Atletico Madrid.
