Real Madrid continues its pursuit of William Saliba, who has been delivering outstanding performances for Arsenal. The French centre-back is a cornerstone of the Gunners’ defence, and his potential departure would be a significant setback for Mikel Arteta’s squad. This summer, the London club has yet to bolster its defensive line.
According to the Spanish outlet “AS”, the La Liga runners-up are planning to make a determined push for the 24-year-old Saliba in 2026. Notably, the defender’s current contract runs until the conclusion of the 2026/27 season, with no indications of an extension in sight. Real Madrid has consistently shown in recent years that patience can pay off, often waiting for the ideal moment to sign players on their own terms.
Saliba is widely regarded as one of the top central defenders globally. The Frenchman joined the Emirates Stadium outfit in 2019 from Saint-Etienne and subsequently spent loan spells at OGC Nice and Olympique Marseille. Arsenal’s management holds their player in high regard and currently values him at nearly 80 million euros.
The 28-time French international has so far made 134 appearances for Arsenal, scoring seven goals and providing two assists.
