Sevilla’s Nigerian contingent, Kelechi Iheanacho, Chidera Ejuke, and Akor Adams, face uncertain futures after a season that failed to meet expectations. All three Super Eagles are potentially heading for the exit door this summer. After a season that saw Los Nervionenses barely preserve their La Liga status, finishing only a point above the relegation zone, the club is planning a complete rework of the roster, which could see all three Sevilla Super Eagles out the door.
A Season to Forge for Kelechi Iheanacho
Kelechi Iheanacho arrived at Sevilla last summer on a free transfer, but struggled to make an impact in La Liga. In his nine league appearances, the 28-year-old failed to register a single goal or assist, prompting Sevilla to send him on loan to Middlesbrough in the English Championship for the second half of the season.
Unfortunately, his fortunes did not improve in England, where he again failed to find the net in five league appearances. Sevilla’s former sporting director Victor Orta even admitted that signing Iheanacho was a mistake. With the club eager to trim its wage bill, the striker is widely expected to depart this summer. Interest has reportedly come from clubs in Greece, Turkey, and the USA. But the biggest potential for a move comes from Egyptian giants Al Ahly, who see him as a potential marquee signing.

Chidera Ejuke Failed to Deliver
Chidera Ejuke, who joined Sevilla on a free transfer from CSKA Moscow, also endured a difficult debut campaign in Spain. The versatile winger managed just two goals and one assist in 25 La Liga appearances. A return that failed to justify his billing as one of the club’s marquee summer signings.
Ejuke’s influence waned further after Sevilla sacked coach Garcia Pimienta in April. Unfortunately, new boss Joaquin Caparros reducing his playing time. With Belgian clubs reportedly interested and Sevilla’s financial constraints forcing them to consider offers for fringe players, Chidera Ejuke could be sold for the right fee. His value currently stands at around €4 million, a fee within reach for many Belgian sides.

An Injury-Riddled Campaign for Akor Adams
Akor Adams, the youngest of the trio, joined Sevilla in January from Montpellier on a five-year deal. But his time in Andalusia has been hampered by injuries. Adams had impressed in Ligue 1 with three goals in 15 matches before his move. Unfortunately, he struggled to replicate that form in Spain. Making only four La Liga appearances without scoring. While his long-term contract suggests Sevilla still sees potential, the club’s need for immediate results and Adams’ injury record could see him loaned out or even sold if the right offer comes in.

After a disappointing season for both the club and its Nigerian stars, Sevilla needs a summer overhaul. Iheanacho appears certain to leave, Ejuke is attracting interest from abroad, and Adams’ future hangs in the balance. Unless there is a dramatic turnaround, the 2025/26 campaign could see Sevilla’s Super Eagles plying their trade elsewhere.
