The Swedish national team heads into Tuesday’s clash against Poland on a high note after their victory over Ukraine (3:1). Viktor Gyoeres delivered an impressive performance in that match, fueling optimism among Yellow-Blue fans ahead of the showdown with Jan Urban’s squad. Meanwhile, some intriguing updates have emerged from Sweden’s camp, as detailed by the Fotbolldirekt portal.
According to the source, Herman Johansson and Roony Bardghji are absent from Sweden’s squad. Johansson had the opportunity to play for the Yellow-Blues in their match against Ukraine. Bardghji, on the other hand, is currently part of FC Barcelona.
Unlike the previous match, when Elliot Stroud, Williot Swedberg, and Gustav Lundgren were excluded from the squad, this time around, all three players are available for selection under coach Graham Potter. Additionally, Victor Eriksson from Hammarby IF is ready to step in and fill the gap in Sweden’s roster, following the departure of Isak Hien and Eric Smith from the training camp.
The much-anticipated Tuesday clash kicks off at 20:45. This marks the first encounter between Sweden and Poland since March 2022.
In the previous encounter held in Chorzów, it was the White-and-Reds who came out on top, securing a victory by two goals (2:0), thanks to strikes from Robert Lewandowski and Piotr Zieliński.
