Man Utd, after suffering a setback against Newcastle United (1:2), returned to winning ways last weekend with an impressive victory over Aston Villa (3:1). Meanwhile, a notable opinion about the current Red Devils’ manager was shared by former Man Utd player and England international.
“Michael Carrick? He absolutely deserves the job. I’ve said this before. I know him well, both as a person and in terms of his character and personality. The team needed a calm leader who understands the club and connects with the players. He gave his players the attention and support they needed,” Wayne Rooney stated in an interview with the BBC.
“We’ve seen a significant boost in the players’ confidence, and the team looks very strong now. I don’t see the point in making changes. He currently has the highest win percentage among Manchester United managers after such a number of games. That’s why I believe he should remain in charge,” added the former England captain.
The team from Old Trafford is currently in third place in the Premier League standings, boasting 54 points. Looking ahead, Man Utd will face Bournemouth away this weekend. The game is scheduled for Friday at 9:00 PM, where the Red Devils will aim for their 16th victory of the season.
