Carlo Ancelotti, after parting ways with Real Madrid, has taken charge of the Brazilian national team. The Brazilian Football Federation had been pursuing him for quite some time, but Ancelotti prioritized his tenure at Real Madrid, which he was reluctant to leave.
Now, months after taking on his new role, Ancelotti expresses immense satisfaction. Under his guidance, the team has managed to secure victories in two of their four qualification matches, as well as in two friendly games. The ultimate goal remains clear: competing for triumph at the upcoming World Cup.
Regardless of the outcome of the tournament, Ancelotti is expected to stay as head coach for a longer tenure. With the World Cup approaching, the Italian coach shared his reasoning on why he believes Vinicius Junior could emerge as one of the standout stars of the competition.
The duo had already developed a strong working relationship during their time at Real Madrid. Ancelotti regards the winger as one of the best players in the world.
– Vinicius has never failed in crucial matches. I can’t recall a semifinal or quarterfinal where Vinicius struggled. In the key moments, he always delivers. I am convinced that if he gets called up, he will have an outstanding World Cup – the Brazilian national team coach mentioned in an interview with Radio Marca.
Though this hasn’t been Vinicius’ finest season so far, he has still achieved a tally of 13 goals and 11 assists in 41 matches.
