Cristiano Ronaldo has finalised the purchase of 25% of the shares in “UD Almería,” a team currently competing in Spain’s second-tier football league. The club announced the agreement this week. The financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed by the involved parties.

By making this acquisition, the Portuguese forward broadens his role in the sports industry as an investor. Over the past few years, the player has taken part in business ventures tied to sports and technology. Now, he becomes directly linked to the ownership structure of a European club.

Almería is presently in third place in the national competition. As such, the team remains in contention for a promotion spot to La Liga, Spain’s top football division. The involvement of an internationally renowned investor aligns with the club’s plans to strengthen its athletic and administrative framework.

In a statement released by CR7 Sports Investments, the company responsible for managing Ronaldo’s business ventures, the forward elaborated on his decision. “For a long time, I’ve wanted to contribute to football beyond the playing field. UD Almería is a club built on solid foundations and has clear growth potential,” he stated.

Almería has officially addressed the arrival of its new shareholder. The club’s management described the deal as a crucial step in its expansion process.

Furthermore, president Mohamed Al Khereiji emphasised the player’s deep familiarity with Spanish football. “He is regarded as the greatest footballer of all time; he knows Spanish football inside out and recognises the potential of what we are building here,” he remarked.

With the acquisition, CR7 now joins the list of Players who became club owners in Europe, including Casemiro, Marcelo, Henry, and more.
