Thiago Silva has reportedly asked Fluminense to mutually terminate his contract. The 41-year-old defender is eyeing a return to Europe this winter, which could become one of the most notable transfer stories of the upcoming window.

This decision appears to stem from two main factors: firstly, Silva wishes to be closer to his family, who remain in Europe. Secondly, he believes that playing regularly on the continent could boost his chances of being selected for Brazil’s national team ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

According to “ge.globo,” a move back to England and the Premier League is under consideration. Adding intrigue to the speculation, Silva’s son is still part of Chelsea’s academy. There’s a possibility that the 181-centimeter-tall center-back could join West Ham United, Fulham, Crystal Palace, or Brentford, where he could take on a leadership role in defence.

In recent weeks, there have also been rumours linking Thiago Silva with a return to AC Milan, where he performed admirably from 2009 to 2012. Massimiliano Allegri is reportedly in search of an experienced center-back and may turn to Silva as a reliable option.

The Brazilian veteran’s impressive career also includes stints at Chelsea, PSG, and Juventude. Notably, his greatest achievement remains winning the UEFA Champions League during the 2020/2021 season.
