Barcelona has yet to make a decision regarding Robert Lewandowski’s future. His contract is set to expire at the end of the 2025/2026 season, and no extension has been secured so far. The decision will largely depend on the Polish striker’s performance and the financial situation of the club.

It’s no secret that Barcelona has bold transfer aspirations and envisions bringing in a global superstar to replace him. The dream acquisition for the club’s management would undoubtedly be Julian Alvarez, whose playing style seems to perfectly align with the team’s needs.

The prominent figure from Atletico Madrid has been linked with a move to Camp Nou for months. However, the Madrid-based club’s executives have repeatedly dismissed any possibility of this happening in the near future. Alvarez, content under the guidance of Diego Simeone, reportedly has no intention of leaving, and Atletico is unwilling to weaken its squad, especially to the advantage of a league competitor.

When asked about the rumours and his future, Alvarez addressed the media buzz directly. He emphasised that speculations on a potential transfer are far from reality, reaffirming his full commitment to Atletico Madrid.

– These rumours don’t bother me. I try not to focus on them, although I’m aware of the ongoing conversations. People talk about this on social media. In my opinion, it’s more speculation than fact. My focus remains entirely on this season and my contributions to Atletico. I avoid distractions and prioritise working on my development – Alvarez explained during an interview with “Marca”.

Although Barcelona is expected to make an attempt to sign Alvarez, their chances of success seem minimal. Atletico has reportedly set his valuation at over 100 million euros.
